As part of the Kingsbeck Estate in the village of Coulter, we have two charming and recently renovated cottages available to book for a self-catering break. While Lanarkshire is the adventurer’s paradise, it also offers a wee bit of escapism from the day-to-day. A wonderful place to curl up in front of the fire with a good book or a glass of something well earned. With so much to see and do on your doorstep you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Property 1

Black Grouse Holiday Cottage

Sleeping four guests , this two bedroomed house has an authentic traditional cottage feel. This beautiful cottage has recently been renovated in 2021 to lovingly maintain all of it’s original features while having modern updates throughout.

An ideal base to explore the expanse of the beautiful local countryside or to take advantage of the road network and see the rest of Scotland.

This charming end terraced cottage has its own sunny back garden and two parking spaces.

Ground Floor: 

Living room: With wood burner and Freeview TV.
Kitchen/dining room: With breakfast area, electric oven, induction hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.

First Floor:
Bedroom 1: With kingsize bed.
Bedroom 2: With zip and link twin beds (can be super kingsize on request).
Bathroom: With shower over bath, toilet and heated towel rail.

Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Initial logs for wood burner included. Welcome pack.

Enclosed garden with garden furniture, chimnea and BBQ. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: There is a river in the garden, 15 yards away.

Located amidst the rolling hills is the small village of Coulter just south of Biggar, with both Edinburgh and Glasgow less than an hour by car. This charming end terraced cottage has its own sunny back garden and two parking spaces. The accommodation is over two floors and has quite generous rooms. The living room on the ground floor has a nice wood burner for heating up those wee toes after a day’s winter walking or just for using as a nice feature for when it’s ’just a wee bit chilly’.

The well-equipped kitchen/dining room has all the modern appliances you’d expect, including the all-important dishwasher for when you simply can’t be bothered washing the dishes. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, the larger of the two has a comfortable kingsize bed while the second bedroom is a little more flexible and can be used as either a twin or super kingsize bed. The bathroom has a good size bath for those who prefer a nice long soak with a shower over. The house has a real traditional cottagey feel, but with all the modern comforts after a recent refurbishment in 2021. This is the ideal base from which to explore the beautiful local countryside and venture out to see other amazing parts of Scotland.

Great Whaup Holiday Cottage

This charming rural retreat provides the comfort and convenience you would expect from a home away from home. Ideal for a small family, a couple of couples or a small group of friends. Great Whaup cottage offers private parking in a gated garden (perfect for well behaved dogs) and a terrace to enjoy sundowners after a day of adventuring.

Not to be missed is the wood fired hot tub just a short walk around the building.

To the north on the A702 (the old Roman Road) you will find the town of Biggar, steeped in history with associations to Bonnie Prince Charlie and William Wallace himself. Some of the country’s famous industry stems from the town and still houses one of the countries only remaining and preserved Gas Works in its own museum, sure to offer and interesting experience.
